How does Turbostak compare to other exhaust stacks?
We ran a CFD series testing Flat Cut stacks, Miter Cut stacks and Turn Out Stacks. We broke down the Turn Out Stack into 3 most likely categories; the Turned Back Stack (with the opening facing directly to the rear), the Turned Out 45 degree Stack (with the opening rotated outward 45 degrees from directly aft toward the side) and the Turned Out 90 degree Stack (with the opening facing directly outward to the side). We know that fuel savings are directly related to the draw, or suction, that a stack is able to maintain when at speed. The depth of the static pressure reduction is measured well within the stack and subject to the expected volumetric exhaust gas flow. So a comparison of these recorded pressures is a suitable metric.
