How does TraM protect privacy of research participants?
All patient data in TraM is de-identified in accordance with HIPAA regulations. A primary identifier (PubID) is assigned to an individual once the uniqueness of this individual is validated by the system. All personalized data in TraM is associated with a PubID (formatted as TR_#######). Only a curator can use the PubID to track and verify data with other personal identifiers (e.g., name, date of birth, medical record number).
