How Does TILMA Impact First Aid Certification?
TILMA impacts employers and workplace first aiders who work in more than one province or territory or those that relocate from one jurisdiction to another within the time period in which their certification is still valid. It does not apply to workers who remain in the same province in which they received their first aid training. The western jurisdictions have agreed to minimum standards for three levels of first aid training: Emergency, Standard, and Advanced. It is recognized that each provincial jurisdiction may add content to the minimum requirements, but that the added content would not be required everywhere else.
