How does this product Halt Dog Repellent work ?
Dog repellants are generally a slightly weaker version of police pepper spray. They have highly concentrated Oleoresin Capsicum. The active ingrediants are derived from peppers including chili peppers and the same parts that make it taste spicy are concentrated many times. The liquid part of the spray is some sort of carrier that will keep the pepper content in solution as it is sprayed. Originally this carrier was alcohol which evaporated quickly and carried well, however there were several incidents where police deployed pepper spray, and then early versions of the taser. Since alcohol is flammable, there were a few cases where suspects were accidentally lit on fire by police trying to subdue them. The alcohol was quickly removed from the mixture, and it is now carried basically by water with a nitrogen or compressed air gas pressurizing the cannister.
