How does this law change current insurance cost containment options?
The cost containment options available to a school district depend on whether or not the district is insured by a private carrier or the State Health Benefits Plan. Districts with private carriers have always had greater flexibility to negotiate a variety of cost containment options, including waiver incentives. S17 provides SHBP-participating districts the ability to unilaterally implement a waiver incentive.
