How does the voucher system operate?
The voucher system is run by the French firm, Sodexho. Vouchers can be exchanged for any type of goods in designated shops, which are indicated by a logo in their window, and listed in information packs for asylum seekers. Asylum seekers currently do not receive any change when they use vouchers, the difference between the cost of the goods sold, and the value of vouchers tendered is kept by the store. The operation of the system is currently under review by the Home Office.
