How does the venus fly trap eat insects?
A venus fly trap first uses sensory hairs on the inside of its “mouth” to know when to snap shut when an insect happens to wander into it. Then strong (or at least strong enough to liquify a small bug) acidic liquids start to break the insect down into its basic nutrients and other unwanted stuff. Then the plant absorbs the nutrients from its digested food. (You can think of this like how our digestive system works but instead of swallowing food, the food just falls right into the stomach.
