How does the UNSPSC and the GPC relate?
GPC (unlike UNSPSC) provides detailed classification attributes and values while UNSPSC (unlike GPC) provides a global classification framework for all products and services in all industry sectors. The two systems do not overlap and are complementary to each other. UNSPSC and GS1 will work together to harmonize UNSPSC-commodities with GPC-bricks in those sectors served by EAN.UCC (e.g., Fast Moving Consumer Goods sector).
