How does the Universitys implementation of VoIP fit in with local, state, and federal statutes regarding telecommunications?
As this technology is still in its infancy, it is difficult to gauge exactly what statutes apply in every case. However, as a state-supported University institution, the University has an obligation to comply as best as it is able with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding communications, data networks, and internet traffic. The University also has a responsibility to maintain the integrity of its network for the benefit of its customers. Privacy and security are of the utmost concern.
