How does the UMS Service Model differ from an Engineering Company doing Mapping Services?
Engineering companies that perform these type of services are usually the Surveying Engineering ones. They use Engineers or Engineering Technologists to collect the data. They also use standard and expensive GPS equipment such as Trimble systems in order to provide the required accuracy of data. As result their fees are fairly high as they provide their services on an ad hoc basis. They are charging hourly plus a daily fee for the system which is very high and also charge a mobilization fee. They provide excellent service to the Engineering Departments of cities, O&G companies and Planning Departments of utilities. They are only mapping surface items that they can see and map therefore they can only perform services during the planning or installation stages. UMS performs Mapping services for large scale projects in conjunction with locating service contracts.
