How does the translation from american names to japanese?
Well all American names are written in Katakana, never Kanji, because they are consider foreign words. Normally names are transfered over into Japanese based on trying to make it sound as close as possible to your actual name. There is no “l” sound in Japanese and there is no “x” sound. To kind of help you with making your name the “r” sound in Japanese is pronounced more like combination of “r” and “l”. This is the most common pronunciation mistake I find. You can look up your name in Japanese on many sites, but the pronunciation maybe off, so you may have to make some adjustments. Hope this helps. Edit: This is what I’ve found for your name on a few sites. It seems your name is not that commonly translated. Arekkusu is the most common translation I’m finding. Unfortunately the “x” sound is pretty much lost and replaced with an “s” sound.
