How does the tool determine and indicate a fuel pump malfunction?

0

The CV1000 is actually verifying that the fuel pump electrical circuit is delivering the proper amount of voltage to the pump. If the circuit is not operational, the pump should be considered in good condition. If the circuit is operating properly, the source of the fuel delivery problem may be the fuel pump, a plugged in-line filter, faulty pressure regulator, etc. Further diagnosis of the fuel system will be required to determine the exact cause. Once the tool is attached to vehicle’s fuel pump harness, it will flash a “Ready” signal (Red and Green lights flashing one time). Within 3 seconds of this signal, the user must turn the vehicle’s ignition switch to the RUN position. If the tool’s Green light flashes and the buzzer beeps, the electrical circuit is functioning properly (fuel pump may be at fault — further diagnosis is required). If the Red light flashes and the buzzer beeps, the electrical circuit itself is not functioning properly (fuel pump OK).
