Our main girdle fits 289/302 engines, including most stroker engines. Thunderhawk Performance has designed our main girdle to use adjustable spacers between the main caps and the girdle. This allows the main girdle to be installed without machining the main caps. This design also allows the engine builder to reduce the spacers between the main caps and the girdle to increase oil pump clearance. This allows the larger-bodied high volume oil pumps to be used with very little modification. When the main girdle is installed with reduced spacers, the main caps must be machined slightly for clearance.
