How Does the Third Party Top-Up Work?
We will carry out a financial assessment of the ability of the third party (or third parties if two or more people agree to meet the extra cost) to pay the top-up. This assessment will take into account the following points: • the third party/ies will have to pay the top-up for as long as you are in the care home • the amount of the top-up required will increase in the future as prices go up • the third party will have to provide sufficient evidence that they can afford to pay and they will be asked to sign a contract committing them to make the payments • if the third party for whatever reason stops paying the top-ups then you are likely to have to move to a less expensive home which charges the amount we would normally pay You should bear these points in mind even if you do not need financial support from us immediately.
