Testosterone Patch Use A testosterone patch may be prescribed by a physician when receiving testosterone replacement therapy to combat testosterone deficiency and/or erectile dysfunction. The testosterone patch is a transdermal patch applied to the skin for 24 hours (similar to a nicotine patch), and is an alternative to prescribed gels, injections or mucoadhesive material, all of which are used to boost testosterone levels. Effect on Sperm Count The testosterone patch has been proven to lower a male’s sperm count. In some cases, sperm count is lowered only during the duration of use. In other cases, particularly in younger males, sperm count was nullified to the point of permanent infertility.
