We do everything we can to make your testing experience as convenient and simple as possible. Blood samples are collected in your doctor’s office, hospital lab or other clinic and then sent to us free of charge by Airborne Express. Urine or hair samples are even easier, and can be collected right at home. Transportation from your doctor’s office or home to the lab is included in the price of the test for US residents. (For general information about our testing, see the Getting Tested section.

The testing process involves a few simple steps. First, and very importantly, the person who is being tested must give his/her signed, informed consent for the test to be ordered. That means that an individual and his/her doctor need to review the informed consent form that explains what the test is for and what the results may mean. The person being tested must also have the opportunity to have any questions they may have answered to their satisfaction before deciding whether or not they wish to be tested. Once the individual has signed the informed consent, his/her doctor will need to collect a testing sample, most likely a small tube of blood, which is then sent to deCODE for analysis. deCODE will make all reasonable efforts to produce a report within 2-3 weeks from the time a sample is submitted, and the authorizing physician will then report the results to the individual and explain what they mean and how they may be used to facilitate the best possible treatment.

The cheek cell samples are taken to our laboratory where they are treated in order to release the DNA coding from the cells. The DNA is then introduced to an enzyme that duplicates the DNA, producing millions of copies ready for analysis.

Testing for new hires is held certain times a year. We will test Paramedics at any time by appointment. Approximately 3-4 weeks before a testing for new hires, post cards are sent out to applicants that are needed (Basics, Intermediates or Paramedics). If you are able to make that testing, RSVP to the number provided to guarantee your spot for testing day. We offer and encourage people to RSVP also for a testing workshop we offer a few days before the testing. On testing day we ask that you dress comfortable and plan to be testing throughout the day. The testing is a multi step process which aids us in selecting new-hires. The first process is a written test. This is based off of NDOT standard curriculum and geared towards each level. The next process is to complete a medical and trauma scenario. The forms are based off the same forms used by NREMT and can be found on their website at www.nremt.org. You will then move onto an EMS Scenario Lift Test. During this phase you will do CPR fo

The science of polygraph testing is based on far more than the technology of the polygraph instrument. The interview skills of the examiner are paramount in ensuring an effective testing process free of ambiguity or doubt. Firstly the Examiner must obtain a comprehensive brief which identifies the circumstances, issues, allegations and facts in dispute. Secondly, the examiner reviews the material, and formulates test questions in such a way as to elicit clear and complete responses. It is critical not to ask questions which can result in partial answers. In this stage the material gathered from the Pre-test brief is broken down into its component parts and matched to the appropriate questions. Thirdly, the examiner takes the participant into the testing phase. This is where the sensors are attached to the examinee and the recording process commenced. The questions are read to the examinee several times during the recording process. Typically a minimum of three charts are recorded. Afte
