How does the technology produce solar energy for homes?

Without sounding to geeky, here is how it works in a nutshell. There are photons in sunlight that once entering the solar energy panel they are absorbed by a conductor like silicon. Electrons are loosened from the atoms which allow them to flow through the conductor material to produce electricity. The solar cells in the solar energy panels only allow the electricity to move in one direction. The positive charges or “holes” move in the opposite direction of the electrons. Once you have multiple solar cells in a solar energy panel these cells converts the electricity in to a usable direct current (DC). Sent out a wire and connected to appliances, lights, breaker box, etc. There is a lot more technically going on here but this is just a quick and dirty of how solar energy for homes is produced and used.
