How does the subconscious mind fit in here?
Subconscious mind is an old concept. We don’t think it is useful here, because it suggests a lasting state. We prefer concepts such as attention and awareness. You control your attention and you shift it to serve your objectives. Other things in your head are not in your focus of attention at the time. You might call them subconscious, but you can make them conscious if you choose to pay attention to them.
