How does the “Stop Bullying Now Campaign” work to reduce bullying in schools across the country?
Dr. Limber: The campaign has been valuable in helping to raise everybody’s awareness about bullying. Since Columbine, schools, parents, even kids, are taking bullying more seriously. But I think the campaign has elevated the issue so that it’s now widely recognized that bullying is a public health concern. It’s not just a concern of educators, it`s everybody`s concern and we all have a role to play in preventing bullying. We`ve demonstrated that fact through our development of partnerships with over seventy organizations that range from education organizations to health and safety organizations, to law enforcement, youth organizations and mental health organizations. We`ve also been able to point people to useful, practical information about bullying.
