How does the sprinkler system work ?

0

The most common type of sprinkler system is the one that has the Temperature sensitive heads. This system operates off a valve system called a Riser. In the Riser room you will find many different gages and valves. In most systems these are called dry systems. These have a valve At the riser that contains a “damper” This valve has water on the “street” side, and air fills the system on the “sprinkler head” side. The air pressure keeps the valve closed until the event a sprinkler head “pops” and the air is released and water is allowed to charge the system and will exit only at the head that has been activated. (Hollywood leads us to believe that all the head come on at the same time. This is not true) Also, most systems have a maximum head operating limit. Most are around 5-10 heads. After this the pressure required to obtain proper streams out of the heads, cannot be met. Any more questions about this you can email me….
