How Does the Soundfont or Soundbank affect the style?

0

Most styles being used today are composed primarily of midi data. A few new systems are beginning to utilize an occasional audio loop for drums or special effects but these are still rare, very slow to load and very limited. The biggest drawback to using all midi data has always been that the styles played can never exceed the level of quality of the arrangers original soundbank. Though a few new products now have the ability to load sounds into a sampler, the limitations (small memory size and very long loading times) keep this from being a viable option. Because of this 99% of styles are MIDI tracks based on the ridiculos Rom/flash soundbanks and the result is that they can never truly reproduce the quality of the original song that they are trying to emulate.
