How does the Social Security Administration Define a Disability under SSDI?
In order to receive SSDI, you must meet the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) 3 requirements for a disability: • You cannot do the work you previously did • You cannot adjust to other work because of your medical condition • Your disability is long term. A long-term disability is one that has lasted at least a year or is expected to last at least a year. Your disability is also considered long term if it is expected to eventually result in death. – Tip: You will not receive SSDI for a partial or short-term disability.
