How does the shopping in Chicago compare to New York?
New York is very expensive compared to Chicago. Your dollar goes a lot further in this city. Plus, with the exchange rate so much in favour of the UK right now I would really recommend Chicago for shopping because most items are half price compared to the UK. In Chicago we have ‘Magnificent Mile.’ If you stroll along this street you’ll find every major designer there is and some great shopping centres, too. The ‘Magnificent Mile,’ runs into Oak Street, where you’ll find the Hancock Centre, one of Chicago’s tallest buildings. I recommend visitors to Chicago go up there for lunch. There’s a magnificent view from there – it’s like the windows of the world, and on a clear day you can see right across to the other side of the Lake – the food’s not bad either! Outside the city centre, is there anywhere in Chicago worth seeing? Some of the boroughs are very funky. Check out Wicker Park, Uptown or Lakeview. These areas are full of one of kind stores, promoting local designers selling in their
