How does the Shocker Bowling Program train?
The Shocker Bowling Program trains the selected athletes on the teams on 5 different tracks. First there are the team practice sessions that are Monday through Thursday, 2:30-5:15pm. These sessions work the entire group on skill, adjustment, and competition training. Second, the workout sessions at the end of each team practice session are designed to improve the physical conditioning of the team members. Third, each team member schedules a weekly individual evaluation session with the assistant coach. These sessions are used to focus on improvement specific to each person. On-lane instruction, video, and computer analysis are used to assist the athletes. Fourth, student-athletes are part of regularly scheduled small team meetings. These meetings cover topics including; leadership, teamwork, sport psychology, communication, goal setting, and various other items designed to not only assist each student-athlete, but also to strengthen the team.
