How does the Shared Branching Network work?
The 3 Network data switches connect CU Service Centers® with participating credit union host processors. In each CU Service Center®, a teller system connects through a data switch directly to each participant’s credit union data processing system. All financial transactions generated by a CU Service Center® are forwarded to the credit unions data processing system (host) via a switch for approval. The host will then elect to accept or deny the financial request. Each day the acquired transactions are settled and reported by the individual switch vendor. In other words, the switch routes all the ‘REQUEST’ from the CU Service Centers® (Acquirers) to the relevant Credit Union (Issuer) who ‘REPLY’ back whether or not the transaction can be performed.
