How Does the Session Layer of the OSI Model Work?
The Session Layer is the fifth layer in the 7 layer Open System Interconnection (OSI) model and essentially deals with interhost communications. The Session Layer sets up and controls the dialogues and connections between computers. It initializes, manages and terminates connections between local and remote applications. The Session Layer provides simplex, full duplex or half duplex communications, establishes check pointing, restart procedures and termination.
