How does the sclerosant work exactly?
A form of medication, the sclerosant works by inflaming the vein wall. The protein of the vein wall, along with the blood (also a protein), inactivates the medication we use. Just as there is deactivation at the site of injection, the impact of the medication diminishes according to its distance from the site of the injection. You can be assured that distant areas of the body will not be affected by the medication, especially with the dilutions we use. Varicose veins and spider veins are therefore “out of the circulation.” This gives us confidence in the inherent safety of this technique.
