There are many scholarships and grants available that are at least partially based on your SAT score. The Florida Academic Scholars Award (FAS) and the Florida Medallion Scholars Award (FMS) are two of the most popular ones. The FAS generally requires a total SAT score of 1270, using the Math and Critical Reading sections (along with a 3.5 GPA, 75 hours of community service and other criteria) and the FMS generally requires a total SAT score of 970, using the Math and Critical Reading sections (along with a 3.0 GPA and other criteria). Additionally, the PSAT is usually required during a students junior year to be considered for a Merit Scholar. The SAT is also required by Duke University in order to be invited to their talent identification program for 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th graders.
