How does the Safe-T-Beam® work?
The Genie® Safe-T-Beam® technology uses a continual infrared beam that scans the garage door opening at all times. In order for the door to operate, the beam must be installed. Locate the beam at least 5 inches but not more than 6 inches from the floor. If the beam is interrupted by a person, animal or object, it automatically raises the garage door to protect people, pets and property. Note! The opener will not close the door unless the Safe-T-Beam® is installed and working properly.
