How does the SAA affect business with Syria?
The SAA requires the President to select two or more sanctions of the six sanctions defined in the SAA. One of the two sanctions the President chose to implement is a ban on exports of products of the United States to Syria (other than food and medicine). The definition of a U.S. product is any good produced in or shipped from the United States or any good with more than 10% de minimus U.S. origin content. The other sanction the President chose to implement is prohibiting Syrian air carriers from take-off, landing, and overflight of the United States.
