HOW DOES THE ROLE OF COMBAT LIFE SAVER (CLS) FUNCTION?
The role of the CLS in combat is to quickly stabilize wounded soldiers, so that the wounded will survive until they can be put in front of a Medic who can provide more sophisticated care. A full 50% of soldiers deploying to Iraq right now are trained as CLS, and the goal in some divisions is to reach 100%. As such, our plan is to push every player through CLS training as part of Basic, and then give all of them the ability to stabilize wounded soldiers out on the field. They’ll be able to stop bleeding and lock pain down so that it doesn’t spike as a result of player movement. Each player will carry a small medical kit, to be used on them by another player in the event of their injury. Once that medkit is used, a player must rely on other players to give up their personal medkit if the player without a medkit needs additional medical help or find a full-blown Medic to heal him and re-supply his medkit.
