How does the RG1000 dial out to an ISP?
The RG1000 has an internal modem that dials out to your ISP. When using the RG1000 with a dial-up ISP, the RG1000 modem establishes the connection, not the modem in your computer. Some ISPs, such as DellNet , may send out a periodic signal. If your ISP does this, the modem contained inside the RG1000 responds to the signal and remains connected to the Internet after you close your browser or mail program. Depending on the type of service contract you have, you may be charged for additional time you remain connected to the Internet. To check if your provider sends out the signal, close your web browser and wait a few minutes past the duration that you entered in the Auto-Timeout field during the RG1000 setup. Listen to a telephone that shares the same line with the RG1000. If you hear a dial-tone, your ISP does not send these signals and your RG1000 has disconnected from the Internet.
