How does the Residential Parking Program (RPP) work?

0

Residents of the City of Worcester may petition the City Council to restrict parking on a residential street. The Council, trough its Traffic & Parking Subcommittee, may approve and ordinance to restrict parking to “residents only” for one or both sides of a streets, and during certain hours or days, depending on the problems being experienced by the neighborhood. The DPW-Traffic Division posts the appropriate signs designating the area as Residential Parking by permit only. Residents of a street approved by City Council for residential Permit Parking and apply for a permit for their vehicle. Residents may also apply for visitor permits. Permits must be renewed annually. Once sings are in place, and residents have purchased their permits, Worcester Police and Parking Control Officers enforce the area. Vehicles parking in the RPP, which do not display valid permits, are subject to fines.
