How does the renewal process work?
The Pennsylvania Department of Health will mail a notification of continued enrollment on the nurse aide registry to the home address of the nurse aide as listed on the registry approximately ninety days before expiration. To be eligible, nurse aides must have worked at least eight (8) hours during the previous twenty-four months in a nursing home facility, hospital, or home health setting. Self employed or private duty experience is not recognized as work experience for continued enrollment. After review and approval, the Department of Health will mail nurse aides their new registry cards. The Registry must be kept informed of nurse aides’ current addresses.

You must complete a new CCW application and have a new passport size photo attached. You must bring the application and a copy of your competency certificate to the Sheriff’s Office. A new set of fingerprints will be taken (rolled/scanned). The renewal fee will be collected. The background check process will take place and you will be called when your renewal application has been approved. At that time, you will need to come back to the Sheriff’s Office where a new license will be issued to you. 3. Where can I obtain a copy of the CCW handbook?
