For every plant that is successfully grown in every Garden, Fairyland pledges to donate a small amount of money to adopt and protect an area of rainforest. The area adopted is quoted in square feet (sq ft) and depends upon which plant was grown – plants which are more difficult to grow (in the higher “Garden Levels”) will usually result in a greater area being adopted. The donation itself is made bi-monthly, when we calculate the total area of rainforest adopted by all Gardens and then make a donation to adopt an equivalent area of rainforest. The donation is made to the Nature Conservancy’s “Adopt An Acre” programme, which is currently helping to protect the rainforests of the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica from deforestation.
