How does the Queensland Coastal Plan affect future settlement patterns on the coast?
The Queensland Coastal Plan will encourage nodal, rather than ribbon or linear, development along the coast, and place restrictions on development in areas of high ecological significance, and areas vulnerable to existing and projected future coastal hazard impacts. When implemented, the Queensland Coastal Plan, in conjunction with the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, will help achieve coastal development that meets the needs of the growing population while preserving coastal resources and reducing risks to people and property.
