How does the Provisional School Counseling Certificate differ from the Standard School Counseling Certificate?

0

The Provisional Certificate is earned with the Master’s degree in school counseling after 48 hours. The Provisional Certificate is issued for 5 years and must be renewed at the end of the 5 year time. The Provisional Certificate allows you to seek employment as a school counselor. The certificate is renewed by taking a minimum of 9 graduate hours from a planned program for the Standard Certificate every 5 years. After completing your 48 hour Master’s degree and obtaining your Provisional Certificate, school counselors begin their program for the Standard Certificate. You may apply for either the Provisional or Standard Certificate in school counseling or renew your Provisional Certificate at EKU’s Teacher Certification office, 421 Combs, (859.622-1829).
