How does the propagation speed of gravity affect shape of galaxies?
The propagation of gravity may play only a small part in the formation of galaxies. A galaxy is the last stage in the evolution of matter in the universe. The outer arms of a galaxy rotate, locked in step with the galactic center, astronomers invented dark matter to explain this fact, but some other force is at work producing this effect. The engine [not a black hole] that drives the galactic center is the author of the progress of galaxy evolution.
We’ve answered this question before, fairly recently. Are you the same asker, asking again? I don’t know where you got your “many physicists,” but they are out in left field somewhere. I know a fair number of physicists, myself, and none of them thinks gravity travels, or has a “speed.” or “propagates at the speed of light.” You seem to have read the wrong material. The accepted theory is that gravity is a property of the curved shape of space, or a property of space-time in general. Gravity is not a wave or a particle, nor a form of energy or radiation. Hey! I’ve got an idea! Why don’t you take a course in astronomy and a course in modern physics. It will open up a whole new world to you, so to speak. ======================================… The purpose of this board is not to allow people to criticize people who know more than they do.
