How does the PlayStation 2 DVD player compare to regular DVD players?

omegaBLaCk Dec 20th, 2004 Playstation 2 (PS2), while being an acceptable DVD player, has nothing on devices specifically made for DVD video playback. The PS2 is a hybrid device and lacks some features and gains some weaknesses that a normal DVD player will not have. For one, a PS2 lacks many options that a normal DVD player has such as Zoom-in, Slow-motion, and Alternate angles. Of course, one can always buy the PS2 remote to compensate for this weakness. But why do that when a cheaper yet higher quality DVD player has a remote packed in? Also, the PS2 is unable to recognize a select portion of DVD movies due to some issues with compatibility. Although such happenings are rare, I’d rather not spend money on a device that may oor may not play all of the movies I purchase when I can purchase a full-fledged DVD player that has full compatibility with ALL of my movies.
