How does the Pentadyne flywheel work?
The heart of the GTX is a high-speed rotating group composed of a multi-layer carbon fiber composite cylinder with a titanium hub attached to an alloy shaft with an integrated rotor of a 4-pole synchronous reluctant motor/generator. It connects and appears to a UPS as any battery cabinet would. When the DC bus of the UPS dips below a programmable setpoint, the rotating group instantly supplies the needed power via its synchronous reluctance motor-generator.
