If you have chosen the month option, your credit card is charged for the first month. This is a rolling month, with the next monthly cycle due in 30 days. If you do not downgrade (or cancel) during this period, the next billing will happen as scheduled. If you have chosen the annual option, your credit card is charged for the first year. This is a rolling year, with to next yearly cycle due in 12 months. If you not downgrade (or cancel) during this period, the next billing will happen as scheduled.
