How does the pager service work?
When a Weather Bulletin is received, we determine if it is an urgent warning that may only exist for a few minutes. If it is, we automatically condense the text so that it will fit in most of the new alphanumeric pagers, which can display 240 characters. we then send out this condensed bulletin to our pager subscribers. Pager subscribers have an email address like 4056781234@mobile.att.net to get the bulletins onto their pager. In some cases, a CAP-CODE is used, to speed delivery to all pagers run by the pager company. In the case of a CAP-CODE, all pager users get the bulletins simultaneously.
