How does the new Polyphonic MIDI ringing tones differ from traditional ringing tones?

0

Polyphonic MIDI ringing tones offer users a new, high-quality sound experience. Polyphonic ringing tones and traditional ringing tones can be used as personal ringing tones, background music and SMS alert tones. Polyphonic tones enable richer ringing tones with a wide variety of sounds. Multiple tones can be playing at the same time using different pre-defined instrument sounds: piano, violin, drums etc. The SW player providing the polyphonic ringing tones includes the sounds of 43 instruments; 4 voices/tones can be played simultaneously. New tones can be received over MMS, downloaded from Club Nokia via WAP or from the Internet with Nokia PC Suite 5.03. The available bearers are GPRS and GSM Data. In addition, the phone supports Scalable Polyphony MIDI (SP-MIDI), which provides the ability to play scalable content, and enables polyphonic ringing tones. The maximum MIDI ringing tone size is 30 kB.
