How does the National Biodiversity Strategy relate to other processes?
Since the original 1996 National Strategy for the Conservation of Australia’s Biological Diversity was adopted, a number of specific national strategies have been developed. These include the National Framework for the Management and Monitoring of Australia’s Vegetation (1999), the Australian Weeds Strategy (2007) and the Australian Pest Animal Strategy (2007). Such strategies are aligned with the objectives of the National Biodiversity Strategy. The following diagram shows some examples of the relevant international, national and sub national context in which an Australian National Biodiversity Strategy will operate. Note that this is not a complete list.
