How does the NAPLAN differ from the previous state based testing?
In 2008, the NAPLAN replaced state based literacy and numeracy testing in Tasmania. The main changes related to the timing and scheduling of the tests, rather than the style and conduct of the tests. For students, teachers and schools, there is little change from arrangements in the past. The type of test questions and the test formats used are familiar to teachers and students. The main difference is that students around Australia now sit the same tests on the same days.
