How does the Mutual Fund Window work?
The Mutual Fund Window is a brokerage option that offers you the ability to invest in your choice of approximately 5,000 mutual funds. You have to complete an application form to set up the Mutual Fund Window before you can trade mutual funds. Payroll contributions cannot be made directly to the Mutual Fund Window. In order to open the Mutual Fund Window account, call the CalSTRS VIP Information Line at 800-699-4032 to request a “Mutual Fund Window Application Package.” Upon receipt of your completed application, you will receive a welcome letter with your Mutual Fund Window account number. Once your account is open, you must make a minimum initial transfer of $1,000 from your core investment options into your Mutual Fund Window account. You may make your initial transfer into the Mutual Fund Window through the Manage Investments section of the secured portion of this Web site by selecting “Fund Transfer” or by calling the Information Line.
