A team of individuals (including Medical Center representatives) have been reviewing this area closely with consultants to indentify appropriate safety measures to take in order to meet both pedestrians’ and motorists’ needs. Currently there is a walkway from the 12th Avenue Parking Garage to Doan Hall, and another proposed walkway that will connect the new Biomedical Research Tower to the Davis Heart & Lung Research Institute. Together these may help with moving some of the pedestrian traffic off of 12th Avenue, but the Medical Center and Transportation and Parking will evaluate every measure to make sure that it is both safe for pedestrians and motorists. Has any thought has been given to either building a pedestrian walkway above Cannon Drive so that people parking in the Polo Lot can cross and not have to worry about oncoming traffic or possibly extending the underground tunnels from the Cannon Drive garages below Cannon Drive on into the Polo Lot?
