How does the media negatively affect teenaged boys?
I think you have a great question. The media not only affects teenage girls but teenage boys. The thing is, we focus so much on how it affects teen girls. Here are a few ways media affects the teen male population. *Teenage males are affected by the sexual roles that they see on television and in the media. For example, many teens males think that having been with many sexual partners makes them a man. We’ve seen in the music videos, and television shows. Amongst males there is shame of being a virgin because it seems they are less than if they haven’t done anything. *Drugs. Believe it or not drugs can play a role. The use of drugs seem to entice males because again it makes them seem more of a male if they have drank alcohol, smoked a joint, and any other drug that can boost the male ego. So television shows make references to drugs at times. They don’t necessarily target teens but the teens see it and they deal with peer pressure. *Money. This aspect is used on many television shows.
