How does the Media Neagitvely affect teenage boys and girls?
I have a little different perspective. I believe the “corporate media” has dumbed down the news we get. It has also narrowed the points of view given in the news & the type of programming…like all the reality shows are just cheaper to make. The corporations have a certain political & greedy agenda & they force it onto the viewing public. Look at how little we see of the war in Iraq & Afghanistan. We used to see correspondents in the field giving news that was not just government propaganda. We saw soldiers in coffins. Look what happened to the Dixie Chicks when the monopolistic corporate media didn’t like what they said about the President. Our teenagers are losing out on learning what democracy is; what the 1st Amendment is because of the media. Commercials are all about consumerism & conspicuous consumption. Like the President decreed: “Go shopping & let me worry about the terrorists”. We’re being taught that civic participation is not wanted. Teenagers are shown that celebrity & f
