How does the Marine Corps help out Marines with disabilities or injuries?
The Marine Corps established the Wounded Warrior Regiment April 1, 2007. The regiment will track and assist wounded Marines and Sailors as well as add discipline and continuity to taking care of our own. The Marine Corps continues to be proactive in supporting our injured and ill Marines. The Wounded Warrior Regiment provides and facilitates assistance to ill, injured and wounded Marines, sailors attached to or in support of Marine units, and their family members, throughout the phases of recovery. Support includes, but is not limited to, resources and referral for administrative needs and other non-medical needs. The Regiment is headquartered in Quantico, Va., with two battalions: one each at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Camp Pendleton, CA. Each Wounded Warrior Battalion has a Wounded Warrior Barracks facility to house injured and ill Marines (who are in an out-patient status) and assist them with their return to duty or transition to civilian life.
